这部音乐剧讲述了，Maxim DeWinter
的妻子溺水身亡（真的是这样吗？），之后遇到他新的妻子 Ich，Maxim 向 Ich
求婚，他们度蜜月后回到 Manderley 的家中。但是，女管家 Mrs. Danvers
讨厌新来的女主人，希望死去的女主人 Rebecca 能够回来。

Maxim 并不喜欢自己的第一任妻子
Rebecca，因为她当着他的面找情夫。其中一个还是 Rebecca 的表弟。Rebecca
美丽无比，男人趋之若鹜，而她当男人为玩物从不真心对待。最害怕的就是生病，然而该来的终究还是来了。她用化名让医生检查身体，她生病了，是癌症。于是，她设计陷害自己的丈夫
Maxim，让他人以为自己被丈夫谋杀。

Mrs. Danvers 其实是 Rebecca 的知己，但最后她却发现自己也被 Rebecca
欺骗。于是，绝望中的 Mrs. Danvers 穿着 Rebecca 的衣服放火烧了 Manderley
庄园。
